The LANplex® 2500 is built on 3Com's breakthrough Intelligent Switching Engine (ISE) ASIC and dual processors to put high-end performance and functionality into a flexible, affordable switching platform. With LANplex 2500, you can take advantage of full-wire-speed forwarding on all ports for all configurations--no exceptions. It provides a full complement of switching functions for high-speed networking, including two different switching modes to optimize packet handling and intranetwork IP routing for efficient communication between numerous subnets. Switch modules support Ethernet and FDDI switching; the LANplex 2500 will accommodate 100BASE-T Fast Ethernet and ATM links in the future.
* Leading-edge ISE chip technology delivers an aggregate throughput of more than 565,000 pps and uses Elastic Packet Buffering to minimize dropped packets during periods of high congestion
* The LANplex Administrator Console provides powerful system management, including packet flow statistics and a Roving Analysis Port feature for scrutinizing traffic flow on any LANplex switched Ethernet port in the network
* Switching features include virtual workgroups for flexible management, packet filters for controlling traffic flow, a choice of 802.1d Bridging or Express Switching modes to optimize switching in various environments, and IP fragmentation for more efficient Ethernet/FDDI communication
* Intranetwork IP routing supports multiple switched segments per subnet and multiple subnets per port, with per-port routing
